I have a text file full of data and i want to match and replace patterns of "item" and "catalog number" that are in the file.
The match pattern is the main component of a regular expression, and is therefore rather complex.
The /g option is used to match all the patterns in the given string (here, $_, but you can use the =~ operator to match somewhere else).
